The Jets made an offensive move today, but what about their defense?

Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio has announced the Jets are releasing wide receiver Allen Lazard.

According to Florio, Lazard requested his release, and the Jets will be granting it.

Lazard didn’t play much this year, especially after the in-season trades for two receivers – John Metchie and Adanoi Mitchell – who were anointed as starters almost immediately after their arrival.

When you see the move with Lazard, an offensive player, you might wonder if Aaron Glenn is going to make any defensive moves after back-to-back poor performances on that side of the ball, in blowout losses to Miami and Jacksonville.

“I’m going to make the decision that’s best for this organization at all times,’ Glenn said on Monday after firing the defensive coordinator.

Some might argue that continuing to roll with certain defensive players, no matter how much they struggle, are not decisions that are “best for this organization at all times.”

Whatever you think of Wilks as a coordinator, nobody can deny that the Jets have significant defensive personnel issues.

But it seems like some players are beyond reproach; no matter how poorly they play.

Some would argue that needs to change.
