Manish Mehta is reporting that WR coach Henry Ellard won’t be back.
Why?
Because he’s not a shrink and couldn’t handle Santonio Holmes?
That isn’t on Ellard, it’s on Mike Tannenbaum for giving Holmes $23.5 in guaranteed money, which gave the receiver an enormous sense of entitlement, and basically, made him uncoachable.
Is it Ellard’s fault that the Jets quarterback struggles reading defenses and is inconsistent with his accuracy?
If the Jets purge their offensive staff, you get the sense that they are somehow blaming them for their disappointing passing game in 2011.
That is probably misguided.
This is more on the quarterback than the position coaches.
