The Jets need quantum leap!

The Jets must improve significantly on this side of the ball – not a little, but a lot.
This NFL analyst has been a sharp critic of the Jets 2021-22 defense throughout the off-season.
“They were the worst team in points allowed,” said VSIN’s Michael Lombardi, a former NFL executive. “Every time an opposition offense took the field, the percentage of ending a drive with a score, they were the worst team in the league. They were the second worst team in creating turnovers.”
There is so much talk about defending the pass better, and they addressed that issue this off-season and could have four different secondary starters from the end of last season. But what about the run?
“From an efficiency standpoint, just studying it through analytics and all the different stats that are out there, from an efficiency standpoint we were at the top half of the league in the run game,” said Jets coach Robert Saleh. “Unfortunately, we are one of the worst from an explosive standpoint which is twelve yards or more. We gave up a lot of explosive plays and massively explosive plays that really skewed the numbers out of whack. The focus really is to try to make sure that we are doing a great job eliminating those explosives.”
And for that to happen, they need better gap integrity and for guys to read their keys better.
