Jets player is an example of stats being misleading

Jets star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams has just half a sack on the season, which might be considered underwhelming.

But sometimes stats don’t tell the whole story.

The Jets’ recent win over the Philadelphia Eagles he was constantly double-teamed. And these double-teams often led to favorable matchups for other defensive linemen to make big plays.

For instance in the fourth quarter, on a key third down, defensive ends Bryce Huff and John Franklin-Myers sacked Philly QB Jalen Hurts, forcing the Eagles to attempt a field goal they missed.

On this sack, Williams was double-teamed, which created single blocks, and plenty of space for other guys to make plays.

This has happened a lot this year.

And unlike past years, when Williams would get double-teamed, and it would lead to big plays for opponents, the Jets are so loaded with D-Line talent around Williams, that more guys are taking advantage of the single-blocks.

So stats can be misleading. Even though Williams has just half a sack, his impact has still been significant.
