The Jets veteran has held up pretty well after all these years . . .

Entering his 14th NFL season, Geno Smith doesn’t seem to have lost anything physically.

“(He’s looks) really good,” Jets OC Frank Reich about the soon to be 36 year old quarterback.

Watching him on the practice field this spring, he looks like the same guy physically as earlier in his career.

“I was just talking to somebody about that today,” Reich said. “His arm is strong, his arm is strong. A week ago they were out there running sprints, he and Cade (Klubnik) were racing and Cade’s pretty quick, all those guys are pretty quick. Geno can still run.”

Smith has done a good job with his conditioning over the years to stave off Father Time.

“He takes good care of himself physically, I mean he feels like a young man to me, he really does,” Reich said.

Aside from conditioning, what has also helped him stay spry after over a decade in the league, is that, after starting his first two years in the league (with the Jets), and the last four years, three in Seattle and one in Las Vegas, he was mainly a backup, from 2015-21, so he didn’t take much of a pounding those six seasons.

Nobody knows how Smith will perform as a starter for the Jets in 2026, but whichever way it goes, the results likely won’t be driven by a factor you often see with older quarterbacks, where they fall off a cliff physically.

That doesn’t seem to be the case with Smith at all.
