They are getting Corley up to speed, but in the mean time . . .

When college receivers enter the NFL the learning curve can be steep.

“It’s hard. You can just use (Malachi) Corley as an example, right? His life was basically bubbles and shallow crosses as a gist of his repertoire (in college),” said Jets coach Robert Saleh. “One of the things that he’s got to get great at and get great at in a hurry is route running.”

So Corley, the Jets 2024 third-round pick out of Western Kentucky, is working on expanding his route tree.

While Corley does this, under the watchful eye of Jets receivers coach Shawn Jefferson, the Jets also want to make sure they have a role for him.

“Our job is to maintain what he’s strong at and finding different creative ways to get him the ball, but at the same time coaching him and developing them to learn how to run routes,’ Saleh said.

So while Corley increases his route tree, expect things like bubble screens and jet sweeps since they want to get the ball in the hands of his player known for his impressive running ability after the catch.
