Linebacker Quincy Williams has done a lot of good things for the Jets over the last four years.
But after watching his film, Jets coach Aaron Glenn made it clear to the player that there are some things he needs to improve.
“I told Quincy when he first came and met with me, there are some things that I want him to work on, and he is doing everything he can to get better at those things,” Glenn said. “Listen, I don’t lie to players, and he’s a really good player, but there’s also some things that he’s got to get better at, and he understands that.”
Sometimes in the past in Florham Park, the hype machine glossed over the reality.
“I pulled him in my office, told him some things he’s got to work on,” Glenn said.
What are those things? Nobody asked Glenn, but one is perhaps making more plays on the ball in pass coverage.
Considering Williams is one of the NFL’s fastest linebackers, some would argue he should have more than one interception over his four seasons in green.
“He knows the things he’s good at, and the things he’s got to work on, he’s doing everything he can to get better at those things,” Glenn said.
