Nobody expected the Jets to go to the Super Bowl this year.
But not many expected the season we witnessed, with the club going 3-14 in the season, wrapping up the campaign with five blowout losses.
Analyst Bart Scott, who works for the team’s TV media partner and their website, laid out what reasonable expectations for Jets fans should have been this year.
“They thought they would be the Saints,” Scott said on the SNY post-game show, following the Jets’ blowout loss to Buffalo in their season finale.
The Saints, under a rookie head coach, like the Jets, finished the season winning four of their last five games, showing steady improvement as the season progressed.
After a rough first half of the season, Coach Kellen Moore’s Saints finished the season with six wins.
Scott is spot-on.
The fans didn’t expect the Jets to have a ticker-tape parade in the Canyon of Heroes after hoisting the Lombardi Trophy this season.
But the fans weren’t expecting the dumpster fire we witnessed.
