On Sunday, Fox’s Jay Glazer announced the Jets are moving on from QB Aaron Rodgers.
So this means the Jets are hitting the reset button at the QB position.
Some might surmise that means that first-year coach Aaron Glenn should be cut some slack next season as he establishes his program with his own QB.
As Lee Corso likes to say, “No so fast.”
The Jets have missed the playoff 14 years in a row, tied with the Buffalo Sables for the longest current streak in pro sports.
It’s time for that dubious streak to end.
Hey, maybe Glenn will be cut some slack in a New York media market that has softened.
But he shouldn’t be.
As Glenn’s mentor often said, “You are what your record says it is.”
Maybe this QB move will work out well for the rookie head coach. None of us know.
But whatever happens, Glenn should not be graded on a curve this year. No way!
Glenn decided to move on from Rodgers – he didn’t lose him in free agency or to an injury, so why would people cut the coach slack if things don’t go well in the passing game?
He made this bed, he’s now got to sleep in it.
Hey, it could turn out to be a comfy bed, who knows?
