This Jet is a road-grader

Rookie offensive lineman Joe Tippmann is looking like a second-round steal.

Currently starting at right guard, he is opening up gaping holes in the run game, like on Breece Hall’s 72-yard TD run off at Denver. On this play, Tippmann pulverized veteran defensive tackle Mike Purcell, opening up the initial hole off right guard, and Hall was off to the proverbial races.

In the second quarter, on a second-and-six on the Broncos’ 16, Tippmann locked up defensive tackle Jonathan Harris, and Hall ran for seven yards and a first down. He made Harris look like Dr. Smith on this play.

While Tippmann could use a little work on pass pro, his elite run-bocking skills have been on full display in his first three starts.

After Tippmann was drafted by the Jets in the second round, NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah said, “Think about Breece Hall running behind a [guy] like this who can get into space and make things happen. This guy is gifted and one of the more athletic interior guys you are going to see.”

And Jets fans are seeing that for sure.

This guy is clearly a first-round talent.

Jets GM Joe Douglas continues to show a keen eye for offensive line talent.
