Florham Park – At Jets training camp on Tuesday, Geno Smith threw a pass down the left seam that cornerback Brandon Stephens picked off.
The pass was a little high and was tipped, either off the hands of Taylor or a defender, and caromed into the hands of Stephens.
These kinds of plays are what training camp is for – learning, experimenting, developing chemistry with teammates.
Smith and Taylor were not on the same page on this play, but you know what, that is what this time of year is all about – working on the kinks on plays like this, so when real games start, this play works better.
The Jets are less than one week into training camp. Their season starts on September 13 at the Tennessee Titans.
Smith and Taylor have plenty of time to get this worked out – that is what camp is for – to iron out these kinds of issues, not media training camp QB stats.
Do newspapers review Broadway shows when they are early in dress rehearsals?
No, they review the show when it opens.
So who cares about a QB’s stats at this time of year, when the signal-caller is getting comfortable with the offense and in sync with receivers?
