While they have interim tags, it shouldn’t matter, they have to make some changes after two defensive debacles in a row.
What do they say about doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result?
Jets interim GM Phil Savage and interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich, need to have some long film sessions together this week.
In the Jets’ last two losses, at the hands of Arizona and Indianapolis, offensive play-callers Drew Petzing (Cardinals) and Shane Steichen (Colts) were playing chess and the Jets’ defense was playing checkers.
The amount of easy throws dialed up for their quarterbacks was impressive – lay-up after lay-up.
Based on their film study, they identified holes in the Jets’ static defense, and also matchup advantages with players who might have some weaknesses in coverage.
Unlike the men they replaced who were defiantly loyal to players, Savage and Ulbrich need to pour over the film together and come up with changes, personnel and scheme-wise.
You can blame Aaron Rodgers all you want, but it’s their defense that is spearheading the Jets’ underwhelming season.
For goodness sake, make some changes.
This isn’t T-Ball.
You can’t be afraid of hurting feelings.
