This Jet picked up where he left off from last season . . .

Florham Park – The Jets probably didn’t have much they wanted to carry over from their 2025 season, a rough campaign that ended with a 3-14 record.

While their offense and defense left a little to be desired last year, their special teams were excellent, and that continued in Nashville in their opening-day win over Tennessee.

“The Jets’ special teams, remember last year, arguably the best in the league, despite what was a really disheartening season,” said CBS play-by-play man Spero Dedas during the Jets-Titans game.

And one of the players who was terrific on special teams for the Jets last year, and continued that level of play in Nashville, is gunner Qwan’tez Stiggers.

He had not one, not two, but three huge plays at Nissan Stadium.

On a punt return in the first quarter, Stiggers pushed a punt blocker back into the punt returner, who was calling a fair catch, legally messing up the fair catch, and linebacker Kiko Mauigoa downed the punt.

In the second quarter, on a Titans kick return, Marcelino McCrary-Ball caused a fumble, recovered by Stiggers.

Then in the fourth quarter, Stiggers downed a punt on the two-yard line.

“That was fire,” McCrary-Ball said about Stiggers’ three big plays. “Those are all powerful plays that worked in our favor.”
