Guts.
That is what Jets QB Tyrod Taylor displayed in the Jets’ 29-27 loss to Tampa Bay on Sunday.
While there are no moral victories, it’s hard to blame the QB for the loss, considering how poorly the Jets’ defense played and how bad his pass protection was.
But even with shabby protection, Taylor showed a lot of moxy, getting hit all afternoon, but still managing to make several impressive plays, including throwing two touchdown passes.
Here are a few examples of Taylor getting hit and still making plays from the pocket.
On third-and-five on the Jets’ first series, just as he was about to get hit by blitzing safety Antoine Winfield, Taylor hit Garrett Wilson for a gain of eight.
On the Jets’ second series, as he was about to get crushed by blitzing linebacker SirVocea Dennis, Taylor hit Wilson for a 17-yard gain on the right sideline.
In the third quarter, on a third-and-four, as he was about to get lit up by blitzing LB Lavonte David, he hit Wilson for a gain of seven.
Then in the fourth quarter, he hit Wilson for an 11-yard TD under heavy pressure.
Gutsy performance from the classy veteran out of Virginia Tech at Raymond James Stadium on Sunday.
