This Jets position group has the potential to be special . . .

There were not a lot of positives coming out of the Jets’ 31-12 preseason loss to the New York Football Giants, but if you are looking for one, you could point to their starting offensive line.

On the lone scoring drive for the Jets’ starting offense, on their second possession, they ran the ball 10 times for 47 yards, putting the team in position for a Nick Folk 31-yard field goal.

The two big runs in this series were an 11-yarder by Braelon Allen and a 12-yard scamper by Breece Hall. On both of these plays, center Joe Tippmann had excellent blocks.

Also, these runs, both to the right side, illustrated how special the right side tandem of first-round picks, guard Alijah Vera-Tucker and tackle Armand Membou, can be.

Speaking of the right side, on the Jets’ first series, they also got a nice surge on an Allen three-yard gain on a successful fourth-and-one conversion.

There is no doubt the Jets’ offensive line, featuring four first-round picks and one second-rounder (Tippmann), has the potential to be one of the best front fives in the NFL.
