Jets rookie tight end Mason Taylor “gets it” and is wise beyond his 21 years.
The Jets’ 2025 second-round pick out of LSU, not only has the physical skill set to excel, but is also wired the right way, raised for his moment by two Pro Football Hall of Fame players, his father, former NFL defensive end Jason Taylor, and uncle, former NFL linebacker Zach Thomas.
“Be where your feet are,” Mason Taylor said about his mindset. “Take it one step at a time. And that’s something, you know, I’ve done my whole entire life, just one day at a time, one install at a time, one practice at a time, one workout at a time. So really just being where your feet are stacking days will show your consistency.”
This might sound cliche, but it’s a time-tested formula for success called “process thinking,” something legendary coach Nick Saban subscribed to.
In this day and age of social media leading too many players to stray from making “the main thing the main thing,” Mason Taylor seems wired the right way, focusing on what matters – getting better as a football player every day.
