The Jets deserve a tremendous amount of credit for their impressive come-from-behind 39-38 win in Cincinnati on Sunday.
They showed a lot of guts and fortitude pulling off this improbable win, spearheaded by QB Justin Fields, who came off a quite challenging week.
However, with the NFL trade deadline approaching on November 4, this win should not influence the team’s decision-making.
In sports, it’s never a good idea to make personnel decisions based on one game.
And their defense had a somewhat inconsistent game, though to their credit, they stepped up on the last two series.
So the Jets should still be open for business on the trade deadline, especially on defense, and not let this one game impact their thinking one iota.
Now, they should not give anybody away, but if they are given an offer they can’t refuse, they should not hesitate to move a player for future draft capital, or in exchange for a young player they have a strong grade on from another team.
Because it’s a big mistake to overreact to a single game, one way or another, when it comes to making roster decisions.
And no, I’m not going to name any names in this article, but on a 1-7 team, very few players should be untouchable if the trade offer is strong.
