One day after being named head coach of the Chicago Bears, Marc Trestman named Matt Cavanaugh his quarterback coach.
Trestman is considered one of the top offensive minds in football, and he’s a big fan of Cavanaugh’s work.
Former Jets backup QB Mark Brunell felt Cavanaugh was the best quarterback coach he ever had.
So all you reporters and fans who want to blame Cavanaugh for the Jets’ problematic quarterback situation, you might want to anoint some of the blame elsewhere.
I’m not saying he’s the best quarterback coach in the business, but to smear his reputation on what he did with the Jets, is somewhat unfair.
The Jets will now have their third offensive coordinator in three years.
Wake-up people – Cavanaugh wasn’t the problem.
