Florham Park – Very few times in football is there a good play for both the offense and defense on the same play.
But in today’s Jets minicamp practice, there was a play with a highlight for the offense and defense.
New Jets nose tackle Jay Tufele burst through the line and got to quarterback Justin Fields pretty quickly.
But Fields, with Tufele bearing down on him, had the wherewithal to throw a laser over the middle to a crossing Allen Lazard, who made a nice leaping catch.
So good things happened on both offense and defense in this minicamp play.
Tufele, who the Jets hope can help sure up their interior run defense, showed some skills as a pass rusher, displaying nice first-step quickness.
And Fields dealt with the muddy pocket well and hit a crossing Lazard, who made a terrific catch.
So it was a good play for one defender (Tufele) and two offensive players (Fields and Lazard).
A win-win for the Jets on this particular minicamp practice play.
