If the Jets don’t pick a corner in the first round, there will be quality prospects available at the position in the second and third rounds.
Mississippi State has a couple of cornerbacks who figure in the second round, in Darius Slay and Johnthan Banks.
UConn also has a duo of corners who are worthy of second or third round consideration – Blidi Wreh-Wilson (second round) and Dwayne Gratz (third round).
Other corners who figure in that second-third round area are Boise State’s Jamar Taylor, Rutgers’ Logan Ryan, Utah State’s Will Davis and LSU’s Tyrann Mathieu.
Remember, the Jets aren’t looking for a #1 corner, they have one (Antonio Cromartie), but they might be looking for somebody to compete for the #2 or nickel spot.
So a player from the second-third round group should do the trick.
