Westhoff would have cut Clowney sooner

Jets special teams coach Mike Westhoff clearly wasn’t a big fan of wide receiver David Clowney.

Clowney was cut earlier this week.

“I would have [cut] him two years ago,” said Westhoff.

Westhoff wanted Clowney to take over the gunner/flyer role from Wallace Wright (Carolina IR), but the wide receiver wasn’t able to do it.

But just because Westhoff isn’t a fan, doesn’t mean that guy couldn’t have helped the Jets as a speed receiver, at least until the return of Santonio Holmes from his four-game suspenstion.
