The NFL announced that the Jets will open their season on September 9 at San Francisco (Santa Clara) on Monday Night Football.
Obviously this is a tough matchup for Gang Green to start the season facing the NFC’s representative in the Super Bowl last year.
The 49ers have been one of the NFL’s better teams the last few years, so facing them will certainly be a challenge.
But what makes it even more challenging than a regular matchup with San Francisco is that it’s happening in Week One, and was announced on May 14, so this gives 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, one of the top strategists in football, four months to game plan.
Obviously, after Week 1, you don’t have as much time to prepare for the following games, but opening week, some great football chess players will have the mother of all game plans.
Facing Shanahan is always tough, but in Week 1, the challenge could be even more significant.
