What this Jet did on back-to-back plays was awfully impressive . . .

After the Jets went for it on fourth-and-2 in the third quarter, down 10-7, and failed to convert, Baltimore drove 42 yards for a TD.

But while there are no moral victories in the NFL, something happened defensively for the Jets on this key drive that was pretty impressive.

Before Derrick Henry finally kicked it in for a TD, Jets cornerback Jarvis Brownlee had a pair of run stops near the goal line.

On first-and-3 from the three, Brownlee stopped Henry for no gain. Then, on second-and-3 from the three, he stopped Henry after a gain of one.

Keep in mind this is 6-2, 252 (Henry) against 5-10, 194 (Brownlee).

In the boxing world, these guys would never be in the ring together.

This is a light-weight against a heavy-weight, but Brownlee didn’t back down, and the fact that he stopped Henry basically at the line, on back-to-back plays, was awfully impressive.

“There is no lack of toughness in his run support,” wrote NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zeirlein about Brownlee when he was coming out of Louisville in 2024.

And being stout against the run is an important part of the nickel back role, which is like a combination of cornerback and linebacker, with all the run support responsibilities that come with that job.
