Ian Rapoport of NFL Network made the following announcement today on X:
“Source: Jets QB Justin Fields, carted off with a toe injury from getting stepped on from practice, suffered a dislocated toe. No fracture and not the big toe.”
Agent David Mulugheta represents Fields.
So for now, Fields, will be replaced by veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor, who has a 28-28-1 lifetime NFL record as a starter on a variety of teams.
Fields has a 14-30 lifetime record as an NFL starter, so some might argue that perhaps going from Fields to Taylor isn’t a dropoff.
NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo made the following announcement today on X:
“All vibes surrounding the Jets QB are he’ll be in line to start Week 1 against the Steelers.”
So this probably won’t impact the Jets’ season too much one way or the other.
Either Fields will be ready to start the season, or a player with a better lifetime record will be under center.
