These are two of the top NFL insiders in the business. They consistently break NFL news.
On the morning of Super Bowl Sunday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pellisaro reported: “The Jets and Aaron Rodgers have been in discussions about his future and a decision on whether the four-time NFL MVP returns to New York could come as soon as this week, per sources.”
A few hours after this report, on Sunday afternoon, Fox’s Jay Glazer reported, “Aaron Rodgers flew back to New Jersey last week to meet with the Jets about his future with the team, only to be told that the team was moving on from him.”
So who were the sources who misled these two prominent NFL insiders?
Jets coach Aaron Glenn and GM Darren Mougey essentially confirmed Glazer’s timeline in a statement today:
“Last week we met with Aaron and shared that our intention was to move in a different direction at quarterback,” read the statement from Glenn and Mougey.
So if Glenn and Mougey told Rodgers they were moving on in a meeting last week, who would tell two NFL Network reporters on Sunday that no decision was made yet?
What’s up with that?
