If the Jets don’t land Peyton Manning, and Mark Sanchez is their starting quarterback in 2012, Greg McElroy should be given a shot at being the #2 QB.
McElroy looked very good last summer, playing behind a backup offensive line that wasn’t very good. That line ended up sending him to injured reserve.
He might not have a howitzer arm, but he’s smart, has good pocket presence and sees the field well.
Will Mike Tannenbaum and Rex Ryan hold his comments about the Jets’ problematic locker room against him, and not give him a legitimate shot to be the #2?
But they might. He’s an easy target, much easier than the Santonio Holmes, who is beyond reproach.
