The Jets will not be holding training camp at SUNY-Cortland.
The school and the team are preparing announcements right now to release to the media and public.
So why did the Jets decide to train at home this year?
“Even if a CBA agreement is reached, it would take two weeks for lawyers to hammer it out, then the team needs to sign free agents and evaluate players,” said a source close to the school. “The team said it plans to return next summer, and will keep its relationship with the college in place.”
The bottom line is this – the Jets are going to be having players flying in and out like crazy, their free agents and others, and having Newark Airport 20 minutes from the complex is a lot easier logistically. Syracuse Airport, an hour a way, with limited flights, wasn’t going to cut it. There were other reasons anlong with this one, but this was a significant factor.
