Will Adams speech help fix the Jets’ biggest problem?

Florham Park – After the Jets’ 37-15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, recently acquired wide receiver Davante Adams gave an impassioned speech to his new teammates.

“It’s not really my personality to see something that’s not right and to just let it go on, regardless of whether it’s from the coaches, players, management, support staff, whoever,” Adams said Wednesday. “There was a lack of energy and urgency out there. And it was apparent, especially coming from, you know, I’ve played on teams that have that winning culture.

“And just basically, I just took a moment to let them know.”

Adams added: “To come out flat like that and essentially give away a game, that’s unacceptable. So I’m just trying to bring a different type of swag and culture in here.”

You could argue the speech should help fire up a loaded offense that is clearly underachieving, but will the speech help their run defense, which gave up 149 yards to a Steelers offense with three backups starting on their offensive line?

This was the second straight week the Jets gave up 149 yards rushing, doing the same in a loss to Buffalo.

Will the speech help guys have better gap integrity, not overrun plays, get off blocks more consistently and not get engulfed by opposing offensive linemen?

Some of these issues might not be fixable by motivational speeches.

We will find out moving forward.
