Woody, Christopher, Ira and Hymie should not hang their hats on this rationale . . .

Once again, Woody, Christopher, Ira, and Hymie, the Jets’ top decision-makers, can’t fall for the “this takes time” excuse for the team’s 0-6 start.

“Everybody wants to make sure they have a winning record,” Aaron Glenn said. “But here’s the thing that was not heard from the very beginning. We’re not talking about the Super Bowl. We’re trying to build a foundation of making sure that we win consistently.”

He added, “I’ve been through that with Detroit. I’ve been through that in New Orleans.”

Once again, I’m not calling for anyone to be fired; I’m just saying that the “it takes time to build a foundation” narrative can’t be the excuse for the team’s 0-6 record. It goes deeper than that.

Of course, any first-year program is looking to build a foundation, but programs like Jacksonville, Chicago, and New England are also building foundations while winning some games along the way. Heck, even Las Vegas, not a particularly talented team, aside from a few guys (Crosby, Bowers, Jeanty), has managed to win two games.

So the Jets’ power quartet should not hang their hat on the “it takes time” rationale that is being espoused. That would be dangerous. There is more to the issues with this team right now than the theory – “Rome (Florham Park) wasn’t built in a day.”

May the buyer beware of blaming everything on “it takes time.”
