Sanchez probably shouldn’t have said, but none are perfect

Press conferences are hard, especially in New York.

And sometimes you say things you would want back. It can happen to the best of them.

Mark Sanchez said something last night, during a press briefing, after receiving a contract extension, that was a mistake.

“[The contract] gives the team just a reminder that I’m the leader of this team,” Sanchez said.

Actually, that probably isn’t accurate.

Remember what Mo Lewis said about Ronnie Lott back in 1993. To paraphrase the former Jets linebacker – he basically said, Lott couldn’t be a leader on the Jets unless he played well.

Same applies for Sanchez.

You can’t lead unless you are getting your job done on the field.

And Sanchez needs to play a lot better than he did last year.
