Let me get this straight.
The same guy who has been running a smear campaign against Mo Wilkerson, is now pushing for the Jets to re-sign Sheldon Richardson in the off-season.
A New York Daily News writer reported that the Jets are interested in bringing back Sheldon Richardson.
This reporter is close with Richardson’s agent.
So let me get this straight, the Jets should get rid of Mo Wilkerson for his lateness issue, but replace him with a guy who has been suspended twice for violating the league’s substance policy, called the Ferguson police officer (who was cleared of all charges) – “a pig,” and was on snapchat before a game last year saying “Where the hoes at, f this game.”
This writer calls Wilkerson a “disgraced” defensive lineman, so what does he think of Richardson’s track record, he’s the Dalai Lama,
One guy has a lateness issue (which for the record is inexcusable), and look the other guy’s indiscretions.
And Wilkerson is the “disgraced” one?
I’m telling your right, if is some writers and fans get their wish, and the Jets move from Wilkerson after this season, he will likely land in New England, in his prime. Be careful what you wish for.
First of all, there is no way the Jets expressed to anyone that they want to bring Richardson back next year.
That is tampering, and you get hit with major penalties by the NFL.
Now I’m sure Richardson’s agent, who is friends with the writer pushing this click-bait (very successfully I might add), would likely want Richardson back with the Jets. He is a free agent after this season, and the Jets have a lot of cap space.
And surely Richardson would like to come back. He likes playing for the Jets and didn’t want to leave.
But there no freakin way a Jets official or officials are running around telling people they want to get Richardson back.
The league would crack down so hard on them, it wouldn’t be worth the aggravation.
I think the writer is playing a game of semantics.
He recently wrote that a Jets source told him Wilkerson is “done” with the Jets after this season.
No way a Jets official told him that.
Most people in that building can’t stand the writer.
As one Jets writer put it, “He’s hedging his bets.”
In other words, there is a chance the Jets move on from Wilkerson after this year due to his salary and lateness, so why not throw it out there now. If it works out, you are a genius, if it doesn’t, they changed their minds.
Some hedging going on here, because there is no way anybody from the Jets told him that the team is “done” with Wilkerson.
Just like nobody from the team is running around telling people that the Jets want Richardson back, when the player is currently under contract to Seattle.
I love covering the NFL. I feel fortunate to do so. But right now, I don’t love covering the Jets.
Why?
Because the media scene around here has turned into a cesspool.
