SUNY Cortland – The scoops keep coming out of Cortland . . . notes on Neil Schwartz, Brad Smith, Braylon Edwards, an underrated corner, a new injury and so much more . . . sign-up now.
Brad Smith continues to struggle with his accuracy as a passer. Two more examples from today’s practices – in the morning he threw a duck to Braylon Edwards down the left side, and then in then in the afternoon, he overthrew Andrae Allison on a quick slant . . .
You get the sense that the Jets have reached their wits end with Darrelle Revis’ agents Neil Schwartz and Jon Feinsod.
You have to wonder if the Jets might take players from this agency off their board in the future.
“With these guys, it’s never enough,” said one league source . . .
Linebacker Brashton Satele continues to be held out of practice with a left ankle injury. Watching him run on the side, with a heavy limp, it doesn’t look like he’s close to returning. But he’s probably going to have to return before he’s healthy if he’s going to have any chance of making it. But then again, he really doesn’t have much chance of making it, so his best hope might be IR . . .
Kris Jenkins didn’t practice today and is wearing some kind of funky device on his left ankle that goes beyond just a normal wrap . . .
Braylon Edwards had a quiet day. Personally, I don’t think that this “spread the wealth” offense is ideal for him. He’s not complaining, but he’s seems like the kind of receiver that needs a heavy workload to get into a groove. Too often in this system he’s the Maytag Repairman . . .
He has little chance of making the team, but I get the sense that Rex has taken a liking to NT Martin Tevaseu or “MTV” as he is know around Jets camp . . .
Marquice Cole is having a tremendous training camp. To me, he looks like a starting quality corner. It’s time for the Jets to move him up the depth chart.
This guy has 4.3 speed, he’s smart (Northwestern product), instinctive and gets his hands on a lot of footballs. The Jets should give some serious thought to starting him opposite Antonio Cromartie, leaving Kyle Wilson in the slot and let Dwight Lowery play safety . . .
Jerricho Cotchery made a tremendous diving catch on the right sideline and landed hard on the ground. He’s such a competitor, he can’t help himself from going after every ball with everything he’s got, but he’s got to be careful. He’s now 28, and the Jets are just in the second week of training camp . . .
The Jets are going to have to figure out why Joe McKnight drops so many passes. It’s not a lack of ability. Perhaps it’s concentration. Whatever it is, it’s going to be hard for the Jets to play him a lot until he becomes more consistent . . .
New Jets offensive tackle Adam Tadisch suffered some kind of right hand injury in the one-on-one OL-DL drill . . .
Kellen Clemens continues to take off and run too much. His field vision continues to be a problem.
