Don’t be shocked if the Jets have their eye on this guy in the draft . . .

Jets offensive coordinator Frank Reich served as Stanford’s interim football coach last year, after former Jets QB Troy Taylor was fired.

So it stands to reason that he’s a really good resource for Jets GM Darren Mougey in the college draft, providing insight on collegiate players he coached or played against last season.

Stanford faced a lot of programs with NFL prospects, including Miami and Notre Dame.

“He’s been great,” Mougey said about Reich. “That’s a good point, I’m glad you brought that up because he has. We have had conversations about several of these players in the draft that he faced, or either was around personally, and that’s been unique.”

While Stanford’s program has been down the last few years, so they don’t have a lot of draft prospects, there is one good one, who was a key part of Reich’s offense last year in Palo Alto, and that is tight end Sam Roush.

He is a 6-6, 267-pounder with 4.7 speed who is considered an excellent blocker.

“He’s big, tough, and sound as a blocker, and he’s a really smart kid, too – picks up everything quickly,” an NFC personnel director told NFL.com.

Roush is considered a middle-round prospect, so he might be somebody the Jets consider with one of their two fourth-round picks.
