Something Woody, Christopher and Hymie must consider when hiring a coach . . .

If the Jets are thinking about bringing back QB Aaron Rodgers, who threw 4 TDs in the team’s season finale win over Miami, they should probably avoid hiring a first-time head coach.

Rodgers, who threw 28 touchdowns this past season, the same as Buffalo’s Josh Allen, being paired with a first-year head coach learning to be a head coach on the fly, is a bad idea.

Rodgers does not deal with incompetence well, and you often see a lot of that from first-year head coaches learning on the job. Many get better in time, but that first year as an NFL head coach is so challenging that it can lead to many rookie mistakes on the sidelines that cost teams in the won-loss column.

So, if the Jets are considering bringing the four-time NFL MVP, they should probably hire a veteran coach with prior head coaching experience, who’s been there, done that.

Pairing Rodgers, in his last season or two, with a hot-shot coordinator, with no head coaching experience, who could struggle on the sideline next year learning the whys and wherefores of the job, is a recipe for disaster.
