. . . of Mekhi Becton and James Morgan signing their rookie contracts on social media, I’m pretty sure where they were at in Florham Park when they signed their deals.
I’m pretty sure they are at the Archer Hotel in Florham Park. I have been in that lobby many times, and recognize the interior design and art work. Becton looks like he’s signing the contract on what is usually a lobby bar.
That is a relatively new hotel in Florham Park right down the road from the Jets’ complex.
The Archer Hotel is on the same plot of land that the Jets built their complex.
What I mean by same land is that the Jets built their training complex on land that used to be a massive Exxon Research and Development complex.
It was such an enormous piece of land (that was vacant for a while), that the Jets only took a small part of the land, believe it or not. And the Jets have a huge piece of land. So a bunch of other projects have gone up on the old Exxon land.
For instance, the Summit Medical group opened a one-size fits all medical complex with every kind of doctor under one roof. Next to it, an MD Anderson Cancer center opened up, but it’s been rebranded to Summit. It’s not longer MD Anderson. They also opened up an an upscale apartment complex that caters to short-term rentals.
Now they are building a massive Del Webb 55 and older community with great amenities. Hey, if you are a huge Jets fans, and want to retire right next to the Jets’ complex, here is your chance. It’s literally right next to the Jets’ complex.
And then you have the Archer Hotel, which has been open for a few years. It’s a boutique hotel that had their first location in Manhattan.
This is the perfect location for the Jets to take over the entire hotel to keep their players and coaches away from the regular population during camp. It’s 1/2 mile down the road from the Jets’ complex.
Remember when Sam Darnold held out for a few days from Jets camp before signing his contract in 2019? Well during that time, he was holed up at the Archer Hotel.
Something else that is very convenient is that that company that is handling all NFL COVID-19 testing is based in Bedminster, NJ, which is very close to Florham Park. Players will be tested every day COVID-19 every day for at least the first two weeks of camp.
So everything about the Archer Hotel is perfect for the Jets to be stationed for a long training camp.
It’s a really nice place so the players will be happy.
You could literally walk to the training complex if you want.
And you would have to think they would able to take over the entire place, since it’s a mid-size hotel, so there will likely be no other guests there. Hotels aren’t exactly loaded with guests right now.
