Jets coach Rex Ryan wants nothing to do with the Darrelle Revis contract dispute.
“I don’t speak for him on that contract, but he knows what I think of him and what this organization thinks of Darrelle,” said Ryan. “I really don’t want to comment on those things. My title is head football coach. I just know he is an outstanding player, he is a New York Jet and he is going to be a Jet forever.”
This is a smart approach by D-Rex. It’s best for an NFL coach to stay out of money issues. If a player thinks the coach is screwing him out of money, very little good can come out of that.
Revis wants over $16 million per season and the Jets don’t want to go that high. They probably would be happy around $12 million.
