This guy is underrated

Chris Owusu is a good football player.

Owusu, a wide receiver out of Stanford, spent some time last year on the Jets’ practice squad and regular roster.

And when finally given a chance to show what he could do in the team’s 2014 season finale in Miami, he played very well.

Before signing with the Jets on September 29, 2014, he spent time with Tampa Bay, San Diego and San Francisco.

In fact, he caught a touchdown pass for the Buccaneers early last season, but was still released shortly thereafter.

So when he gets chances, he generally takes advantage of them.

Like today in Jets practice, with WR Devin Smith sidelined due to a rib injury, he caught a deep pass from Geno Smith over Antonio Cromartie.

Owusu is a 6-0, 196-pound receiver with world class speed. He ran a 4.36 forty at the 2012 Scouting Combine.

“He’s one of those guys that flies under the radar, but he’s smart, he’s steady, he’s quicker than you think, he’s always in the right place and he’s young,” said Jets coach Todd Bowles. “He just needs a chance to play and he made some plays today, he made some yesterday.”

If he keeps making plays, he’s going to be very hard to cut.
