Missouri outside linebacker Shane Ray seems like a possible fit for the Jets with the sixth pick of the draft.
Ray had 14.5 sacks this past season for the Tigers.
The Roeland Park, Kansas-native plays with high-revving motor.
“I play with a lot of passion and a lot of energy,” Ray said. “I’m really physical.”
He also has a very quick first-step, something very important for edge pass-rushers.
“Most of the time, you get a good enough [first step], you’re able to beat offensive linemen out of their stance,” Ray said. “As I started understanding that was a skill that I have and an advantage I’ve been blessed with, I just kind of used it more to my advantage, and it worked out for me.”
It’s hard to tell what the Jets think of Ray without seeing their draft board, which is under lock-and-key in their facility.
But on paper, he certainly seems like a player who can help the Jets.
