FSI NFL analyst Greg Jennings, a teammate of Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay from 2006-12, called the current Jets QB “narcissistic” on the February 27th episode of “First Things First.”
“A couple of things can be true – [Rodgers] can be very narcissistic, but he can also be a very great football player,” Jennings said. “Both are true. We understand that.”
Jets Confidential asked current Jets receiver Randall Cobb, a long-time teammate of Rodgers in Green Bay, what he thought about Jennings calling the QB ‘narcissistic.”
“Greg Jennings has been calling him a narcissist for the last decade, that is nothing new,” Cobb told JC.
Cobb’s timeline is spot on. Jennings has been verbally attacking Rodgers since 2013, when Jennings left the Packers to sign with the Minnesota Vikings.
In 2013, during his first year in Minnesota, Jennings was critical of the Packers and Rodgers, and often referred to the QB, not by his name, but as “12,” or “the guy they have now.”
In the 2022 off-season, when Rodgers was engaged in a battle with the Packers about his future, Jennings told Forbes Magazine: “I go back to personal experiences and when you have a personal experience you try to move past, move beyond, because people change, but some things never do. Aaron Rodgers has been a very selfish guy.”
So Jennings has been attacking Rodgers in the media over the last 10 years, so his recent comments on FS1 should not come as a surprise.
What is Cobb’s take on why Jennings views Rodgers in a negative light?
“Disgruntled ex-player, I guess, ex-teammate,” Cobb said.
Did Jennings have a bad relationship with Rodgers in Green Bay?
“Their relationship is what is it,” Cobb said.
And what is is, is a relationship that is clearly damaged, and this is perhaps leading to constant negative commentary about the Jets’ QB from the retired receiver.
