Cortland – It’s time for another helping of Dan’s Website Whispers, live from SUNY Cortland. Don’t miss out! Get on board.
Backup punter Travis Baltz is a very good holder. The kickers seem very comfortable with him . . .
The publishing of QB stats continues to be very unfair. So often, Sanchez is facing the starters, and Tebow is against the backups.
So how can you compare their stats?
It’s absolutely ridiculous . . .
Stephen Hill has his moments, but he’s often “swimming” out there, to borrow an expression from Herm Edwards.
Remember, there were questions about him as a route-runner. And route-running is one of the issues he’s having.
Sanchez threw a pass to him in the middle of the end zone that was broken up.
WR coach Sanjay Lal gave him a piece of his mind – “Hill you need to keep running all the way across. That is two touchdowns (you missed out on).”
Hill is a very hard worker. He will get it down, but he’s a definitely a work-in-progress as a route runner.
But one thing you have to love about the guy is how he fights for the football. He goes after the football like a shark goes after it’s prey . . .
Antonio Allen, who mostly played in the box at South Carolina, continues to show a lot in run support.
In this practice, he stopped Bilal Powell in the backfield for a loss.
But he did have a play in pass coverage he would want back. Dexter Jackson beat him on a deep pass.
Obviously this is a major mismatch. Jackson runs 4.3 and Allen runs 4.6 . . .
Jordan White practiced for the first time.
How do I say this without going overboard? He has the best hands on the team. That might be a little strong for his first day.
But I will just say this – wow, what natural pass catching ability! He catches the ball effortlessly. I don’t care that he played in the MAC. How often do you ever hear about a player hauling in 140 passes in one season.
This guy has what it takes to play in the NFL . . .
Ricky Sapp had two more sacks today . . .
Sanchez threw a fade to Patrick Turner on the right side of the end zone. Mark, what are you thinking? Opponents stay away from Revis, and so should you.
By the way, Revis was outstanding today . . .
Tony Sparano has got to be pissed off at Bart Scott.
He’s trying to teach his offensive players before and after plays, and Scott won’t shut up. He was a trash-talking machine, and was disruptive to Tony’s teachable moments.
Now I know why Bart didn’t want to talk to the media after practice – his vocal cords were worn out. I’m telling you, it was non-stop with him today.
While Tony did seem to enjoy it, I have to admit, he’s very entertaining.
One quarterback was holding the ball so long, Scott claimed he was “up to 11 Mississippi.” . . .
Yeremiah Bell has amazing instincts against the run. Every day in practice he seems to stop a runner in the backfield, and today it was Shonn Greene . . .
While I promised not to get too much into longshots because I know the roster is basically decided already, but this DaMarcus Ganaway is something else.
He’s a little skinny and needs some more meat on his bones, the guy catches everything in sight and has good wheels . . .
Antonio Cromartie says he has no regrets for saying he was the team’s #2 WR, and said the media blew it out of proportion.
I will be the first too admit the media does blow a lot of things out of proportion. There is no doubt.
But this isn’t example of that.
What Cro said was disrespectful . . .
The picture above is Sanchez and his father (Nick) . . .
