According to a New York York Daily News headline, “Although Smith didn’t get the start, it’s no secret that first-year GM John Idzik hopes his second-round pick wins the job.”
I have to admit, I wasn’t aware of that.
If Idzik does “hope” that Smith wins the starting job, and it happens, will the GM cut Rex Ryan slack in his evaluation of the coach, since he would be starting a somewhat raw second round rookie quarterback?
We shall see.
