The Jets helped themselves on Sunday.
By doing nothing.
While the Washington Redskins, Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Cleveland Browns took a step back from a continuity standpoint by firing their coaches, the Jets helped their program by not blowing things up.
When you fire coaches, you often change the schemes, playbook, turn the roster over (hurting chemistry) and so forth. That sets players back, especially young ones.
By the Jets keeping Rex Ryan, the Jets are going to keep their systems in place.
And that’s a good thing.
