The Jets promoted defensive end Jarron Gilbert from their practice. The announcement was made by NFL’s Aaron Wilson.
“The New York Jets have signed defensive end Jarron Gilbert, promoting the former Chicago Bears draft pick from their practice squad,” Wilson wrote. “Gilbert was drafted last year out of San Jose State with the 68th overall pick. A 6-foot-5, 287-pounder, Gilbert recorded one tackle in four games last season in Chicago. Meanwhile, the Jets added cornerback Will Billingsley to the practice squad.Billingsley is a former North Carolina A&T player who has a previous stint on the Miami Dolphins’ practice squad.”
The Jets released Howard Green to make room for Gilbert. Green had been given a two-year contract last month.
