The New York Jets have sign RB Jonathan Grimes from the Houston Texans practice squad. The announcement was made by General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.
Grimes (RB/5-10/209/William & Mary/Palmyra, NJ) entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with Houston (05/14/12). He was waived following the preseason (08/31/12) before signing with the Texans practice squad (09/02/12). In the 2012 preseason, Grimes carried 28 times for 130 yards (4.6 average) and one touchdown. He left William & Mary as the school’s all-time leader in rushing yards (4,541), all-purpose yards (7,955), kickoff return yards (2,289) and rushing attempts (936) and earned 11 all-conference honors, the most in Colonial Athletic Association history.
