Should the Jets change their draft plans now?

People wonder if the Jets signing left tackle Tyron Smith and trading for right tackle Morgan Moses, should alter their draft plans at 10.

Of course not.

If an offensive tackle is the highest-rated player, they should still pick that player.

First of all, both Smith and Moses are 33 years old, and on one-year deals, so not only do you need insurance due to both players having some wear and tear, but you also need to look toward the future.

Also, it’s always the best draft strategy to stick to your value board, so if the Jets are on the clock, and Oregon State offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga is their highest-rated player, you pick him.

Actually, the only way the signings of Smith and Moses should alter the Jets’ draft plans, is if all of the players they have ranked as worthy of the 10th pick are gone, perhaps they should look to trade down with a team looking to move up, probably for a QB, and amass extra picks.

But if the Jets stay at 10, and an offensive tackle is their highest-rated player, they should still pick that player.

It might sound boring, but it’s best to stick to your value board. That is why you spend so much time scouting and stacking that board.
