NYDN – Jets about to sign a safety.

The Jets are about to sign former University of Cincinnati safety DeAngelo Smith. The announcement was made by Manish Mehta in the New York Daily News.

“The Daily News has learned that free agent safety DeAngelo Smith will be visiting the Jets this weekend and is expected to sign with the team. Smith, a fifth round pick by the Cowboys in 2009 out of the University of Cincinnati, has also been on the Lions, Bears and Browns. Smith, 25, played in seven games for the Lions (starting once) in 2009,” wrote Mehta.
