John Idzik is a “best player available” drafter.
That means, when the Jets are on the clock at 18, they will pick the highest-rated player on their draft board, regardless of position.
I know some don’t want to hear that, but that is his draft strategy.
So if you think they are definitely going to pick a wide receiver in the first round, you might be mistaken.
“We’re looking at every position (in the draft),” Idzik said. “I don’t mean to sound smart or anything like that, but we’re going to look at every position in the draft. We’re going to draft what we believe are the best players.”
And historically, that has proven to be the best approach, to handling the NFL draft.
