New Jersey – The Jets officially signed former Seattle Seahawks guard James Carpenter today.
He was coached and developed in Seattle by one of the NFL’s best offensive line coaches, Tom Cable.
Carpenter has great size (6-4, 321), with long arms and is pretty athletic for his build.
He’s also battled-tested, starting on a Super Bowl participant the last two seasons.
And he’s still only 25-years-old (he will turn 26 on March 22).
I have no issue with this signing. A lot of film study and research went into it. The Jets’ offensive line coach, Steve Marshall, has been coaching offensive lines for 35 years. He certainly knows what he’s looking for.
If Carpenter stays healthy (which was a problem early in his NFL career), this should be a solid signing.
