Last November 20, the Buffalo Bills beat the Jets 32-6 at Highmark Stadium.
After a chippy fourth quarter, there was a skirmish in the tunnel leaving the field between Bills offensive tackle Dion Dawkins and Jets defensive end Michael Clemons.
In the locker room after the game, Dawkins had some choice words for the jets
“I’m not a fan, man — I’m not a fan of the Jets,” Dawkins said. “Very disrespectful players.”
He also took an unusual shot at Jets defensive line coach Aaron Whitecotton.
“There’s a lot of emotional guys over there, very emotional guys – even their D-line coach — very emotional, unmanly,” Dawkins said.
Calling another team’s assistant coach “unmanly” is not something you hear very often.
“Unmanly” according to Merriam-Webster Dictionary is “being weak of character: cowardly.”
According to the American Heritage Dictionary, “unmanly” is “uncharacteristic of, unbecoming to, or degrading to a man.”
Kind of a bizarre comment to make about another team’s assistant coach.
It should be noted that Whitecotton was an assistant in Buffalo from 2017-19, Dawkins’ first three years with the Bills, so they know each other.
Whitecotton, who has been the Jets’ defensive line coach since 2021, is highly regarded at 1 Jets Drive, and popular with his players.
So the Jets defensive linemen should have a little extra juice on Monday night going against this player who insulted their boss in such a strange way.
