The Jets have permitted hold-out Haason Reddick to seek a trade. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini made the announcement.
Reddick has not practiced or played in a game for the Jets since they acquired the defensive end in March from the Philadelphia Eagles. He wants a new contract and has been holding out.
The Jets allowing him to seek a trade is probably the best way to go.
There is too much bad blood between the player and team, and too many bridges burned.
His relationship with the Jets at this point, isn’t very different than his relationship with Micah Khan.
There isn’t a lot of goodwill.
And Reddick not honoring his contract the first six games has hurt the Jets, and who knows, might have cost them a game. Maybe he would have delivered a game-changing sack or two in one of their four losses.
Or maybe the speedy Reddick would have been able to track down Josh Allen on that key third-down scramble that iced the Bills win over the Jets Monday night.
If you are a player on the Jets, why would you want this guy in your locker room after he didn’t show up to work to help you out in the first six games?
So it’s time to move on and with so many teams needing edge help, like Detroit, they should be able to get a decent draft pick in return.
The Haason Reddick playing for the Jets ship has sailed.
It’s time for Reddick to get on with his life’s work elsewhere.
